For several years, Our Lady delivered urgent messages calling for repentance, prayer, and conversion of hearts. She warned that Rwanda was on a dangerous path and that great suffering would come if the people did not turn back to God.
On August 19, 1982, the visionaries were shown a horrifying prophetic vision: rivers flowing with blood, people slaughtering one another with machetes, mountains of corpses left unburied, and immense grief across the land. The girls wept uncontrollably as they described the scenes.
These apparitions were a clear heavenly warning — years before the tragedy unfolded. Unfortunately, Rwanda did not fully heed this urgent call to repentance and conversion. As a result, the prophesied suffering came to pass.
In 1994, the Rwandan Genocide erupted. In just 100 days, over 800,000 Tutsi and moderate Hutu were brutally murdered. The visions seen in Kibeho had come to pass with terrifying accuracy. Had the nation converted as Our Lady pleaded, many lives — including countless Christians — could have been spared.
Her message remains powerful today:
“Pray the Rosary daily. Repent. Change your hearts while there is still time. Do not wait until it is too late.”
In our own troubled times, Our Lady of Kibeho continues to call humanity back to God: “Repent and convert while there is still time.” — Our Lady of Kibeho.
