Saint Aloysius Gonzaga Feast Day: June 21

Born March 9, 1568, in Italy to a noble family, his father hoped he would become a soldier and heir. But raised in faith by his mother, Aloysius preferred prayer and Scripture over power and wealth. Seeing the vanity of court life, he felt God’s call. Against his father’s wishes, he renounced his inheritance and joined the Jesuits as a teen.

In 1591, during a plague in Rome, he stayed to care for the sick and dying, eventually contracting the disease himself. He died on June 21, 1591, at only 23, offering his life to God.

He is the patron of youth, students, and those with contagious illnesses.

Reflection:
Our culture often measures success by wealth, popularity, or influence. Aloysius had all of those opportunities within his reach, yet he chose a different path. He understood that a life spent loving God and serving others is far more valuable than titles or possessions.

His example invites us to ask ourselves, what comforts or ambitions might we need to loosen our grip on so that we can better love the people God places in front of us today.

St. Aloysius Gonzaga, pray for us.

My vocation is Blessed and Saints.

"I am the most humble of all the Saints in Heaven" Mary, Mother of God."

"I am the handmaid of the Lord, said Mary ‘let what you have said be done to me."

Mother Mary is the most humble Saint in Heaven and she is also the Mother of God for us all
