Saint Mariam Thresia

Saint Mariam Thresia (1876–1926), born in Puthenchira, Kerala, was a mystic, stigmatic, and pioneering apostle of families. From her earliest years, she nurtured a deep love for God, dedicating her life to prayer, sacrifice, and service. Despite limited formal education, she displayed remarkable spiritual wisdom and became known for her compassion toward the poor, the sick, and those in need of reconciliation with God.

Through her family visits, prayers, and counseling, she worked tirelessly to strengthen homes and lead people closer to Christ, taking the Holy Family of Nazareth as her model. Guided by profound mystical experiences and sustained through many trials, she founded the Congregation of the Holy Family (CHF) in 1914 to continue her mission of serving families and society.

A visionary educator and champion of human dignity, she promoted faith formation, education, and care for the marginalized. Canonized in 2019, Saint Mariam Thresia remains a shining example of holiness, charity, and unwavering trust in God's providence.
