Pionius adalah seorang iman dan pengkhotbah yang cerdas. Ia menjelajahi banyak
tempat dan akhirnya ditangkap ketika ia sedang merayakan misa Kudus sehubungan
dengan pesta Santo Polikarpus. Setelah ditanyai dan dipaksa supaya menyembah
berhala, ia dipaku pada tiang dan dibakar. Pionius meninggal pada tahun 250.
