First Reading : Acts 4:1‐12

While Peter and John were talking to the people the priests came up to them, accompanied by the captain of the Temple and the Sadducees. They were extremely annoyed at their teaching the people the doctrine of the resurrection from the dead by proclaiming the resurrection of Jesus. They arrested them, but as it was already late, they held them till the next day. But many of those who had listened to their message became believers, the total number of whom had now risen to something like five thousand. The next day the rulers, elders and scribes had a meeting in Jerusalem with Annas the high priest, Caiaphas, Jonathan, Alexander and all the members of the high‐priestly families. They made the prisoners stand in the middle and began to interrogate them, ‘By what power, and by whose name have you men done this?’ Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, addressed them, ‘Rulers of the people, and elders! If you are questioning us today about an act of kindness to a cripple, and asking us how he was healed, then I am glad to tell you all, and would indeed be glad to tell the whole people of Israel, that it was by the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, the one you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, by this name and by no other that this man is able to stand up perfectly healthy, here in your presence, today. This is the stone rejected by you the builders, but which has proved to be the keystone. For of all the names in the world given to men, this is the only one by which we can be saved.’

Gospel : John 21:1‐14

Jesus showed himself again to the disciples. It was by the Sea of Tiberias, and it happened like this: Simon Peter, Thomas called the Twin, Nathanael from Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee and two more of his disciples were together. Simon Peter said, ‘I’m going fishing.’ They replied, ‘We’ll come with you.’ They went out and got into the boat but caught nothing that night. It was light by now and there stood Jesus on the shore, though the disciples did not realise that it was Jesus. Jesus called out, ‘Have you caught anything, friends?’ And when they answered, ‘No’, he said, ‘Throw the net out to starboard and you’ll find something.’ So they dropped the net, and there were so many fish that they could not haul it in. The disciple Jesus loved said to Peter, ‘It is the Lord.’ At these words ‘It is the Lord’, Simon Peter, who had practically nothing on, wrapped his cloak round him and jumped into the water. The other disciples came on in the boat, towing the net and the fish; they were only about a hundred yards from land. As soon as they came ashore they saw that there was some bread there, and a charcoal fire with fish cooking on it. Jesus said, ‘Bring some of the fish you have just caught.’ Simon Peter went aboard and dragged the net to the shore, full of big fish, one hundred and fifty‐three of them; and in spite of there being so many the net was not broken. Jesus said to them, ‘Come and have breakfast.’ None of the disciples was bold enough to ask, ‘Who are you?’; they knew quite well it was the Lord. Jesus then stepped forward, took the bread and gave it to them, and the same with the fish. This was the third time that Jesus showed himself to the disciples after rising from the dead.

Words of the Holy Father:

The Gospel of today’s Liturgy (Jn 21:1-19) recounts the third time the Risen Jesus appears to the Apostles. It is a meeting that takes place by the Lake of Galilee, and above all involves Simon Peter. It all begins with him saying to the other disciples: “I am going fishing” (v. 3). There was nothing strange about this since he was a fisherman, but he had abandoned this work from the time he had left his nets on the shore of that very lake, in order to follow Jesus. And now, while the Risen One keeps them waiting, Peter, perhaps a little disheartened, proposes to the others that he return to his former life. And the others accept: “We will go with you”. But “that night they caught nothing” (v. 3). (…) And what does Jesus do with Peter? He returns again to the shore of the lake where he had chosen him, Andrew, James and John. He had chosen all four of them there. He does not reproach them — Jesus does not reproach, he touches the heart, always — but calls the disciples tenderly: “Children” (v. 5). Then he invites them, as before, to cast their nets again courageously. And once again, the nets are filled to overflowing. Brothers and sisters, when our nets are empty in life, it is not the time to feel sorry for ourselves, to take our minds off things, to return to old pastimes. It is time to begin again with Jesus, it is time to find the courage to begin again, it is time to put out to sea again with Jesus. (Regina Caeli, 1 May 2022)

Santo Markus, Pengarang Injil.

Santo Markus, pengarang Injil berasal dari Yerusalem. Rumah mereka biasanya digunakan sebagai pertemuan umat Kristen. Ketika Santo Petrus dipenjarakan, banyak sekali orang Kristen berkumpul disana dan berdoa bagi keselamatan Santo Petrus. Setelah dibebaskan malaikat, Santo Petrus pergi menemui umat di rumah Santo Markus. Semasa mudanya, Santo Markus telah bertemu dengan Yesus Kristus, tetapi tidak menjadi seorang muridNya.
Dalam injilnya, Santo Markus menceritakan bahwa ketika Yesus ditangkap dan di giring kehadapan mahkamah agung, seorang anak muda mengikuti-Nya dari belakang. Para serdadu hendak menangkap orang muda itu, tetapi dengan cepat pemuda itu meloloskan diri darinya. Besar kemungkinan orang muda itu adalah Santo Markus sendiri, karena peristiwa ini hanya terdapat dalam Injil Santo Markus saja.
Santo Markus ini disebut juga Yohanes Markus. Ia adalah anak saudara Santo Barnabas. Ia ditobatkan dan dipermandikan oleh Santo Petrus. Santo Markus menemani Santo Paulus dan Santo Barnabas dalam beberapa perjalanan misi: perjalanan pertama ke Antiokia (Kis12:25) dan kemudian ke Siprus (Kis 13:4-5). Karena beberapa alasan, Santo Markus kembali ke Yerusalem (Kis1 3:13). Ketika mereka mau melakukan perjalanan kedua, Santo Barnabas mendesak agar Santo Markus pun ikut serta, namun Santo Paulus menolak hal itu sehingga terjadilah perpecahan antara Santo Paulus dan Santo Barnabas. Lalu Santo Paulus pergi ke Asia kecil ditemani oleh Santo Silas sedangkan Santo Barnabas bersama Santo Markus pergi ke Siprus (Kis 15:36-41). Dari permohonan Santo Paulus kepada Santo Timotius (2Tim 4:11) agar Santo Markus mengunjunginya di penjara, dapatlah kita ketahui bahawa Santo Paulus sangat memerlukan Santo Markus.
Dalam suratnya yang pertama, Santo Petrus mengirimkan salam dari Roma, dari "anakku, Markus" (1Pet 5:13). Hal ini-diperkuat oleh tradisi purba dan nada Injil Santo Markus yang memberikan kepastian bahawa Santo Markus juga adalah rekan atau orang yang dekat dengan Santo Petrus. Di Roma, Santo Markus menjadi pembantu kepada Santo Petrus. Ia menjadi juru bicara Santo Petrus. Tentang hal ini dikatakan bahawa Santo Markus dengan teliti mencatat segala sesuatu yang diingatnya tentang ucapan-ucapan Santo Petrus kepada orang banyak.
Setelah Santo Petrus dan Santo Paulus dibunuh oleh Kaisar Nero, Santo Markus berangkat ke Mesir dan disana ia disebut oleh Hieronimus sebagai "bapa para pertapa di gurun pasir Mesir". Kemudian ia menjadi Uskup Aleksandria dan dibunuh karena Kristus. Jenazahnya kemudian di bawa ke Venesia dan relikiunya disimpan di Basilika Santo Markus. Tanggal lahir dan kematiannya tidak diketahui dengan pasti. Lambangnya sebagai pengarang Injil adalah singa, raja gurun pasir, yang diambil dari permulaan injilnya yang menyinggung gurun pasir.

Kis 4:1 Ketika Petrus dan Yohanes sedang berbicara kepada orang banyak, mereka tiba-tiba didatangi imam-imam dan kepala pengawal Bait Allah serta orang-orang Saduki.
Kis 4:2 Orang-orang itu sangat marah karena mereka mengajar orang banyak dan memberitakan, bahwa dalam Yesus ada kebangkitan dari antara orang mati.
Kis 4:3 Mereka ditangkap dan diserahkan ke dalam tahanan sampai keesokan harinya, karena hari telah malam.
Kis 4:4 Tetapi di antara orang yang mendengar ajaran itu banyak yang menjadi percaya, sehingga jumlah mereka menjadi kira-kira lima ribu orang laki-laki.
Kis 4:5 Pada keesokan harinya pemimpin-pemimpin Yahudi serta tua-tua dan ahli-ahli Taurat mengadakan sidang di Yerusalem

Kis 4:10 maka ketahuilah oleh kamu sekalian dan oleh seluruh umat Israel, bahwa dalam nama Yesus Kristus, orang Nazaret, yang telah kamu salibkan, tetapi yang telah dibangkitkan Allah dari antara orang mati?bahwa oleh karena Yesus itulah orang ini berdiri dengan sehat sekarang di depan kamu.
Kis 4:11 Yesus adalah batu yang dibuang oleh tukang-tukang bangunan?yaitu kamu sendiri?,namun ia telah menjadi batu penjuru.
Kis 4:12 Dan keselamatan tidak ada di dalam siapapun juga selain di dalam Dia, sebab di bawah kolong langit ini tidak ada nama lain yang diberikan kepada manusia yang olehnya kita dapat diselamatkan."
Mzm 118:1 Bersyukurlah kepada TUHAN, sebab Ia baik! Bahwasanya untuk selama-lamanya kasih setia-Nya.

Yoh 21:1 Kemudian Yesus menampakkan diri lagi kepada murid-murid-Nya di pantai danau Tiberias dan Ia menampakkan diri sebagai berikut.
Yoh 21:2 Di pantai itu berkumpul Simon Petrus, Tomas yang disebut Didimus, Natanael dari Kana yang di Galilea, anak-anak Zebedeus dan dua orang murid-Nya yang lain.
Yoh 21:3 Kata Simon Petrus kepada mereka: "Aku pergi menangkap ikan." Kata mereka kepadanya: "Kami pergi juga dengan engkau." Mereka berangkat lalu naik ke perahu, tetapi malam itu mereka tidak menangkap apa-apa.
Yoh 21:4 Ketika hari mulai siang, Yesus berdiri di pantai; akan tetapi murid-murid itu tidak tahu, bahwa itu adalah Yesus.
Yoh 21:5 Kata Yesus kepada mereka: "Hai anak-anak, adakah kamu mempunyai lauk-pauk?" Jawab mereka: "Tidak ada."
Yoh 21:6 Maka kata Yesus kepada mereka: "Tebarkanlah jalamu di sebelah kanan perahu, maka akan kamu peroleh." Lalu mereka menebarkannya dan mereka tidak dapat menariknya lagi karena banyaknya ikan.
Yoh 21:7 Maka murid yang dikasihi Yesus itu berkata kepada Petrus: "Itu Tuhan." Ketika Petrus mendengar, bahwa itu adalah Tuhan, maka ia mengenakan pakaiannya, sebab ia tidak berpakaian, lalu terjun ke dalam danau.
Yoh 21:8 Murid-murid yang lain datang dengan perahu karena mereka tidak jauh dari darat, hanya kira-kira dua ratus hasta saja dan mereka menghela jala yang penuh ikan itu.
Yoh 21:9 Ketika mereka tiba di darat, mereka melihat api arang dan di atasnya ikan dan roti.
Yoh 21:10 Kata Yesus kepada mereka: "Bawalah beberapa ikan, yang baru kamu tangkap itu."
Yoh 21:11 Simon Petrus naik ke perahu lalu menghela jala itu ke darat, penuh ikan-ikan besar: seratus lima puluh tiga ekor banyaknya, dan sungguhpun sebanyak itu, jala itu tidak koyak.
Yoh 21:12 Kata Yesus kepada mereka: "Marilah dan sarapanlah." Tidak ada di antara murid-murid itu yang berani bertanya kepada-Nya: "Siapakah Engkau?" Sebab mereka tahu, bahwa Ia adalah Tuhan.
Yoh 21:13 Yesus maju ke depan, mengambil roti dan memberikannya kepada mereka, demikian juga ikan itu.
Yoh 21:14 Itulah ketiga kalinya Yesus menampakkan diri kepada murid-murid-Nya sesudah Ia bangkit dari antara orang mati.
